I just got off a conference call with key members of the media to discuss our polling results in eight key congressional districts represented by pro-life Democrats in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. These pro-life Democrats will be critical votes in determining the fate of healthcare legislation that mandates and funds abortion. Healthcare that would end the lives of hundreds of thousands of unborn babies.
When we commissioned the poll, I knew that the results would show a clear rejection of abortion funding in healthcare, but the results were even stronger than I thought! I'll be posting further analysis of the results on the website, but wanted to give you a quick snapshot:
Three-in-five voters in these districts agreed that “abortion and abortion funding have no place in healthcare legislation."
Majorities of voters in all eight districts not only opposed, but strongly rejected, “taxpayer funding of abortion as part of healthcare reform.”
Pluralities of voters in all districts want their Members of Congress to cast votes opposing the healthcare bill.
Because the polling results are so strong, I've decided to launch an aggressive program to mobilize these pro-life constituents to lobby their Representatives, all of whom are pro-life Democrats who are under an immense amount of pressure to cave to President Obama, Majority Leader Reid, and Speaker Pelosi.
With the amount of political pressure that is being applied by the White House and pro-abortion leadership, these pro-life Democrats need political cover to stand for Life. That cover is their constituents. It allows them to tell Nancy Pelosi that they are receiving hundreds of calls each day from pro-life constituents and there is no way they can support a pro-abortion healthcare bill.
These pro-life Democrats need to hear from their constituents right now and the Susan B. Anthony List has the technology to get it done.
