Politico just reported that Speaker Pelosi is aiming for a vote on health care next weekend. She has asked Members of Congress to clear their schedules and upon hearing that President Obama is postponing a trip to Asia, Pelosi said "I am delighted the president will be here for the passage of the bill. It will be historic."
With radical pro-abortion leaders moving fast, we have got to move even faster. NOW is the time we must act. The vote will be tight, the good news is that Foxis reporting that seven pro-life Democrats have confirmed that they are switching their vote from "Yes" to "No" on the health care bill -- you guessed it, due to its funding of abortion.
And our encouraging message to these pro-life Democrats has been to choose principle over party. Rep. Dan Lipinski of Illinois, who just now confirmed he is switching his vote from yes to no, told Fox News, "Protecting the sanctity of life is a matter of principle."
This no time to back down. If Nancy Pelosi wants a vote next weekend, we must convert more pro-life Democrats to ensure the Senate pro-abortion version of the bill is defeated by the House of Representatives.
Right now, in addition to the patch-through lobbying calls that you funded, we are currently airing radio ads in the following districts: Jason Altmire (PA-04); Paul Kanjorski (PA-11); Brad Ellsworth (IN-11); Baron Hill (IN-09); Steve Dreihaus (OH-01); Charlie Wilson (OH-06); Marcy Kaptur (OH-09); John Boccieri (OH-16); and James Langevin (RI-02).
Our message is clearly working. Our radio ads encourage pro-life Democrats to put principle above party, and mobilize pro-life constituents to encourage their legislator to stand for life. For those that have already switched from yes to no, our radio ads encourage them and put wind in their sails. For those who are wavering, our ads act as a "velvet hammer" to ensure they stand for life.
God's blessing for your witness,
